Reporting from Thailand

Sawadii Kha! Sabaaydii kha? Today is my sixth day in Bangkok, Thailand and I am loving it. My adventure has been filled with pros and cons. I have encountered both nice and mean people but overall my encounters have strengthened me. I have been able to order food and ask a taxi to send me home. Also,I have been able to help some of my other friends buy their uniforms for school because I know Thai numbers. hahahahaha......funny huh?

Being here in Thailand has showed me what potentials I possess and the ability to survive in a foreign country. But being in Thailand has also helped me appreciate all that I have back at home. I see that the people here are sweet and kind but this country still has many poor people. I have taken so much for granted and reality didn't really hit me until being here.

For example, today is my second day of school at Thammasat University and I am taking a class with Thai students. It feels like I am back in high school again. The classroom setting is different here. Even though it is consider a University, the students aren't as mature as college students back at home. Throughout Professor Sukum's lecture the students were talking the whole time. I was not use to all that. I am use to everyone's full attention on the Professor and students being afraid to make a sound in class. But I guess this is part of the experience and I have to be able to work with what I have.

Overall, my classes are great and I am enjoying them. They don't seem too hard so I hope not to stress too much. Well, take care everyone and until next time may God bless you all.

Love,
Mary Yang
